Piano Progress – Spring Semester 2025 This semester marked some exciting strides in my piano journey. For context, I began seriously studying piano during the pandemic using the Suzuki method, reaching the early stages of Book 5. While this gave me a strong foundation in repertoire, I’ve been working to fill gaps in my "traditional" piano training—especially in technique and sight-reading. My focus this past semester was: 1. To work on Bartók’s Mikrokosmos Vol. 3 and record the Vol. 1 a tempo; 2. To play all Suzuki pieces books 1-4 and record it (I’ll try to do that once per year until 2067); 3. Improve sight reading skills and technique. I also discovered Turi Collura’s Brazilian Piano —an absolutely fantastic book—and focused on Zequinha de Abreu’s Tico Tico no Fubá as my main repertoire piece.
